      • About Us

        Who we are

        Formed through a student initiative at the University of Toronto in September 2013, Grad Minds is the Mental Health Caucus of the University of Toronto Graduate Students' Union (UTGSU), dedicated to supporting the well-being of all graduate students.

        What we do

        We provide mental health education and promote well-being through inclusive programs, initiatives, and events. Our focus is on fostering psychological resilience, personal growth, self-care practices, and reducing the stigma surrounding mental health challenges.

        Why we do what we do

        Graduate students face unique challenges that are not often addressed. At this time, there is a lack of peer support services and education programs aimed at graduate students' mental health on campus.

        Our mission is to promote mental health awareness and well-being among the graduate student population at the University of Toronto. We take a three-pronged approach to achieve our mission that encompasses:

        To Promote Wellness

        Mental health is complex. Our goal is to provide students with tools and resources that may help improve their overall mental health and well-being.

        To Raise Awareness

        Mental health conversations are essential; we can't be silent anymore. Our aim is to diminish the shame and stigma that surrounds mental health.

        Power Yoga Vinyasa Class with Gabrielle Forget

        These Zoom-based sessions are dynamic 45-minute Power Yoga vinyasa classes, featuring a brief meditation either at the start or end. Step out of your routine and onto your mat for a rejuvenating experience of movement, mindfulness, and fun. All levels are welcome!

        KnitWits with Paula Karger

        Drop-in knitting, crocheting, embroidery, and general crafting! Join any time between 8 and 9 on Mondays for a relaxing time with fellow grad students. We talk about everything and anything while creating wonderful things.
